Ellesmere Titans and former Wirral Metro swimmer Freya Anderson has got her hands on a Commonwealth medal after racing to bronze in the women’s 4x100m freestyle relay. While there was no catching Australia – who set a new world record in the event – Anderson and her team-mates of Siobhan Marie O’Connor, Anna Hopkin and Eleanor Faulkner were comfortable in third. Anderson recorded a time of 54.95 seconds for her second leg as Team England kept New Zealand and South Africa at bay to finish third. She said: “It was just really cool to be in that environment. It’s been great learning from other teams and seeing how they swim, how they handle themselves in the cold room, it’s really inspiring.”
