In July this year, Wirral Metro Swimmer, Nathan Young represented GB in the 23rd Deaflympics, in Samsun, Turkey. Nathan was part of the twelve-person team pictured left (second right, back). Nathan flew to Istanbul on 15th July, then onto Samsun where his competition began on 20th July. Nathan swam in the 50, 100, 200 Freestyle,  50 and 100 Backstroke, 50 Fly and relays: 4×100 freestyle mixed, 4×100 freestyle male, 4×200 freestyle male and 4×100 mixed medley. Nathan is now a Bronze Medalist and the  4×100 Mixed Free relay set a new British record. In 2015 Nathan represented GB at the World Deaf Swimming Championships in Texas, which he described as ‘a great experience but I knew my goal was to compete at the 23rd Deaflympics.’
