A small team from Wirral Metro attended the Sheffield Premier Meet 2018 on the 23/24/25th March to try post times to qualify for an end of season meet.
The weekend was highly successful, Elliot Pickford set new personal bests in 50/100/200/400/1500 free, 50fly and 400im, posting times that have him currently ranked at British and English National.
Georgia Hytner swam to an incredible 7/7 new PB’s and has all three breaststroke events ranked to qualify for British Nationals.
Emily Brown swam to a new PB in the 100fly and is ranked for English nationals.
Matthew Harding swam an outstanding 50free and 100brs setting a new pb. Jake Dane swam to a personal best in the 200im by over 2 seconds, and Tori Sopp set times in the 100fly and 200bk to be ranked at British Nationals.
Nathan Young competed at The deaf Nationals over the same weekend in Loughborough and set new British youth records in the 50/100fly and new PB’s in the 50/100free.
Congratulations to all.
The ‘window’ runs from March to May; swimmers must compete in a level 1 open meet (long course) and be ranked in the top 24 to be invited to British nationals, the next 20 swimmers will be invited to home nations (English / Scottish / Welsh nationals)
With Leeds, Manchester open, and NW Regionals approaching lets keep up the good work and keep racing fast!
